In the 11-plus years since sales for the Missouri Lottery’s Show Me Cash game began, Paul Taylor of Poplar Bluff said he has won $250 a few times by matching four out of five numbers drawn. On Feb. 17, however, Taylor was matched all five numbers to win a $50,000 jackpot.
Checking his Show Me Cash tickets at Nick’s Corner Store, 900 W. Pine St. in Poplar Bluff, is part of his morning routine, but Taylor’s jackpot winning ticket made it anything but routine.
“I go in there in the mornings and scan my tickets on my way downtown,” he explained. “When I scanned this one, it didn’t say anything. I gave it to the cashier behind the counter. He had a big grin on his face, because they already knew that somebody had hit it.”
While the cashier may have suspected that Taylor’s ticket might be the winner, it was quickly confirmed after checking the ticket on the Lottery terminal.
“He checked it and said, ‘You’re not going to believe this!’” Taylor said.
The winning numbers on Feb. 17 were 17, 18, 20, 26 and 39. Taylor’s ticket is the eighth in 2020 to match all five Show Me Cash numbers drawn.
Show Me Cash is drawn every evening at 8:59 p.m., with jackpots that start at $50,000 and continue to grow until won.
