MISSOURI STATE HIGHWAY PATROL
An 85-year-old Charleston woman was killed in a two-vehicle crash at 1:20 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 19, on Interstate 57 in Mississippi County.
According to the report, Carolyn S. Burcks was operating a 2012 GMC Terrain northbound when it struck a 2010 Navistar fire truck in the rear. The fire truck reportedly was stopped on the road with its emergency lights activated while Sikeston firefighters were on the scene of a grass fire.
Burcks was taken to Saint Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau, where she was pronounced dead at 4:29 p.m. by a doctor there.
Burcks is the fourth fatality this year.

Charles A. Wallace, 42, of Poplar Bluff was arrested at 3:30 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 19, on suspicion of possession of a controlled substance (methamphetamine), possession of drug paraphernalia, failure to register a motor vehicle, displaying plates of another and failure to driving on the right half of the road resulting in an accident. He was booked at the Butler County jail and released on bond.

Kathryn Ann Bowman, 40, of Gatewood was booked at the Butler County jail Wednesday, Feb. 19, on a Ripley County failure to appear warrant for passing a bad check. She was released on bond.

Perrian Guniuyu Clinton, 27, of the 700 block of Warren Street was booked at the Butler County jail Wednesday, Feb. 19, on a capias warrant for probation violation on an original charge of unlawful possession of a firearm.

Mercedes Delisa Patterson, 27, of the 400 block of Alyssa Lane was booked at the Butler County jail Thursday, Feb. 20, on two failure to appear warrants for stealing and a warrant for stealing.

Jason Edward Payne, 44, of Doniphan was booked at the Butler County jail Wednesday, Feb. 19, on warrants for possession of a controlled substance and stealing.

Murvin Willira Weaver, 30, of the 900 block of Fairmont Street was arrested at 10:29 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 19, on suspicion of two counts of possession of a controlled substance, unlawful possession of a firearm, possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of fewer than 10 grams of marijuana and stealing a motor vehicle and on a warrant for parole violation on an original charge of unlawful use of a weapon. He was booked at the Butler County jail.

BLOOMFIELD — Kristina Kaye Hicks, 35, of Piedmont was booked at the Stoddard County Jail on a warrant for possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia.

MALDEN — Matthew Smith of Risco was Wednesday, Feb. 19, on a Stoddard County warrant for second-degree harassment. He was booked at the Malden City Jail and later transferred to the Stoddard County Jail.
