Richard Edward Halbur, 82, was called home on Saturday, Feb. 1, 2020, at his home. Richard was born Feb. 2, 1937, in Wisconsin Rapids, Wis., to the late Edward F. Halbur and Irene C. Halbur (Smolorek). He was a loving father, brother, grandfather, uncle and friend to many. He loved his family, playing golf, and was an avid football fan, especially the Green Bay Packers...

Richard Edward Halbur, 82, was called home on Saturday, Feb. 1, 2020, at his home.

Richard was born Feb. 2, 1937, in Wisconsin Rapids, Wis., to the late Edward F. Halbur and Irene C. Halbur (Smolorek). He was a loving father, brother, grandfather, uncle and friend to many. He loved his family, playing golf, and was an avid football fan, especially the Green Bay Packers.

On Oct. 8, 1975, he married Lorena Shirley Halbur. She preceded him in death.

Survivors include 11 children: Rodney and Shelley Johnson and Kevin Johnson, all of Racine, Wis., Ray and Lori West of Van Buren, Mo., Carrie Johnson and Samuel Crowder of Poplar Bluff; Alan Halbur, Mary and Joseph Dehler and Jerry and Elizabeth Halbur, all of Florida, and Donnie Halbur, Brian and Kim Halbur, and Mark Halbur, all of Wisconsin; two brothers, Eddie and Robert Halbur of Wisconsin; three sisters-in-law, Carol and Dan Kennedy of Kansas, Kathy and Steve Worthen of Wisconsin, and Nancy Nielsen of Florida; 24 grandchildren; and 21 great-grandchildren.

Besides his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Betty Jane Mizner and Nancy J. Fiskum, his father-in-law, John T. Zebell, and his mother-in-law, Lola J. Zebell (Rugg). A son, Richard Halbur Jr., of Wisconsin, died on the same day.

A celebration of life will be held in his honor at a later date.

The family requests memorials be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital.
