Eva Mae Brown, 89, of Poplar Bluff, died Saturday, Feb. 1, 2020 at her residence.

Eva was born July 1, 1930 at Torch, Mo., daughter of the late Haddie and Clarice Smith. She graduated from Naylor High School. She later taught school in Naylor and Kindergarten at the First Baptist Church, where she and her family were members.

She and her husband retired from Snider’s IGA. She was a bookkeeper and was known as the “pretty lady” at Snider’s.

On Jan. 24, 1941 she married J.R. Brown.

He survives along with a daughter: Debra Kaye Reeves and husband, Bill, of Tucson, Ariz.; a son: James Rodney Brown and wife, Brenda, of Poplar Bluff; five grandchildren: Emily Ponath and husband, Jeff, of St. Louis, Tyler, Parker, Bailey and Zachery, all of Poplar Bluff.

There will be a memorial service at a later date.
