Myra Lee Henson, 93, of Poplar Bluff, died Friday, Nov. 29, 2019 at Chateau Girardeau Health Center in Cape Girardeau.
She was born May 1, 1926 in Hoxie, Ark. to Elijah S. and Leta Virginia (Jackson) Tinsley.
She was a 1944 graduate of Poplar Bluff High School and married Rex Henson on June 2, 1946. He preceded her in death on Oct. 19, 2009.
Early in her life she had been involved in the community serving as a Charter Member of the Junior Citizenship Club as well as the Children’s Edgewood Home. She ultimately took up golf which became her passion and she placed in the top of her age group in the Missouri Senior Olympics.
Survivors include her two sons, Matthew (Patti) Henson of Cape Girardeau and Mark (Beverly) Henson of Poplar Bluff; three daughters, Nancy (Jake) Kopp of New Hope, Pa., Jane Bishop of Sevierville, Tenn. and Cindy Woodruff of St. Louis; nine grandchildren, Lance (Melanie) Henson, Kristie (Jeff) Lepold, Johanna Bishop, Sarah (Scott) Gibson, John (Jodi) Woodruff, Katherine (Matt) Thiemann, Luke (Cory McCauley) Henson, Rachel Henson and Laura (Cole) Wichert; and eight great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by parents; husband; two sisters, Winifred Hillis and Edress Lohmeier; one brother, James Jackson Tinsley; and son-in-law, Doug Bishop.
Visitation will be at 1:30 p.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 7 at New Life Christian Church-United located at 2755 Barron Road, Poplar Bluff.
Service will follow at 2 p.m. Saturday at the church with the Rev. John R. Harwell officiating.
A private family burial will be at Poplar Bluff City Cemetery in Poplar Bluff.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be given to New Life Christian Church-United in support of their Home Outreach Ministry or your favorite charity.
