ELLSINORE— Robert Allen Shaffer, son of the late William Howard and Hazel (Canoy) Shaffer, was born May 13, 1942, in Wardell, Mo., and departed this life on Nov. 10, 2019, at his residence in Ellsinore, Mo. He had attained the age of 77 years, five months and 28 days.
Robert had resided in Ellsinore for the past 48 years and was formerly of Hayti, Mo. He was of the Baptist faith.
He proudly served in the United States Army for three years. Robert was a hard worker, enjoyed working and spending time with family and his grandkids. He was very caring and always made sure his family was taken care of.
On Nov. 13, 1964, Robert was united in marriage to Brenda Lacey in Caruthersville, Mo.; she survives of the home.
He is survived by his wife, Brenda Shaffer of Ellsinore, Mo.; one son, Robert Shaffer Jr. and wife, Karren, of Independence, Ky.; three daughters, Velina Putney and husband, John, of Ellsinore, Mo., Lori Shaffer of Ellsinore, Mo., and Mandy Hahn and husband, Richard, of Ellsinore, Mo; one sister, Stephanie Wright of Laquey, Mo.; 12 grandchildren, Paul Powell, Dustin Powell, Danyelle Alexander, Whitney Julian, Kandice Riggins, Robert Shaffer III, Jake Shaffer, Katelin Rinehart, Hailey Hahn, Hayden Hahn, Haven Hahn, and Holden Hahn; 14 great-grandchildren and one on the way; and many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends who mourn his passing.
In addition to his parents, Robert is preceded in death by four brothers, William Howard Shaffer II, Richard Shaffer, Michael Shaffer, and Anthony Shaffer; seven sisters, Norita Bilberback, Sue McMahan, Linda Bell, Joan O’Neill, Cathy Amende, Deborah Strain and Loretta Shaffer; one grandchild, Brett Hayse Rinehart and one great-grandchild, Kylie Brooke Powell.
A visitation will be held on Wednesday, Nov. 13, 2019, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the McSpadden Funeral Home in Ellsinore, Mo., with the funeral services being held at 10 a.m. on Thursday, Nov. 14, 2019, in the funeral home chapel. Rev. Tom Wilder will be officiating. Burial will be in the Smith Chapel Cemetery in Ellsinore, Mo.
