City firefighters responded at 10:37 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 24, to a report of vehicle fire at the intersection of Pershing and Alice streets.
According to the report, firefighters found a 2016 Chevrolet Impala, owned by Hartlee Tillman of Palmer, Mo., in a ditch with fire coming from its engine compartment and interior. The car reportedly had been involved in a motor-vehicle crash.
Firefighters used 250 gallons of water to put out the fire and stood by until the vehicles were removed.

City firefighters responded at 10:04 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 24, to a report of a water heater exploding causing a gas leak at the 2025 Brentwood Road residence occupied by Rebecca Gambling. It was investigation only.
According to the report, firefighters found the hot water heater was electric and a water line had broken off the top. Gambling had shut off the water prior to the arrival of the fire department.

City firefighters responded at 5:32 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 24, to a motor-vehicle crash at 635 S. Eighth St.
According to the report, firefighters checked for injuries.

City firefighters responded at 1:06 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 24, to a report of an unauthorized burn at the 1103 Mary St. residence owned by Kiwanna Blackmon.
According to the report, firefighters found a large trash and vegetation fire and used 50 gallons of water and a pike pole to put it out.
Firefighters told Blackmon about the city’s burn ordinances.

County firefighters responded at 9 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 24, to a fire involving a combine on County Road 628, east of Highway 51.
According to the report, the John Deere, owned by Junior Hicks, was destroyed.
