Trick or treating events will be held for the next two weekends at the Old Greenville Recreation Area.

It is the first time since 2017 that the popular holiday activities have been held at the historic site.

Dubbed the Jack O’ Lantern Jubilee, candy will be handed out by campers from 5-7 p.m. Saturday and again from 5-7 p.m. Oct. 26.

Hundreds of children and adults flock to the former town site each Halloween for these festivities, which include decorated campsites.

The campground was closed in the spring of 2017, following damaging storms and flooding. It remained closed until June of this year while upgrades were done to the campsites and utilities.

Approximately $1 million in upgrades and repairs were completed while the site was closed, according to the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers.

Two successful events have already been held at the site this year, the annual Old Greenville Days and the Black Powder Rendezvous.

The Corps has also already announced the dates for the 2020 Jubilee, which will be held over three weekends, Oct. 17, 2020, Oct. 24, 2020 and Oct. 31, 2020.
