Jimmy ‘Goose’ Talkington, 79, of Poplar Bluff, passed away on Friday, Oct. 11, 2019 at his home surrounded by his loving family.
Jimmy was born on June 3, 1940 in Corning, Ark., the son of Robert and Ella (Glass) Talkington. On June 16, 1960 he married Marcia Johnson in Poplar Bluff and together they have shared over fifty-nine years of marriage.
After high school Jimmy received a scholarship to play football for the Ouachita Baptist Tigers at Ouachita Baptist University in Arkadelphia, Ark.
Jimmy greatly enjoyed fishing and duck hunting, he was an active member of Duck’s Unlimited and Over The Hill Bass Club. Most important to Jimmy was his family whom he loved to spend time with.
In addition to his wife, Jimmy is survived by his children, Todd (Sheryl) Talkington of Poplar Bluff, Jeff (Lynn) Talkington of Hernando, Miss., Mike (Sheila) Talkington of Overland Park, Kan. and Mitzi (Joe Mike) Wilson of Green Brier, Ark.; grandchildren, Brooke (Craig) Lansford of Poplar Bluff, Blake (Brett) Larkowski of Poplar Bluff, Tyler Talkington of Memphis, Tenn., Maclane Wilson of Green Brier, Ark., Malerie Wilson of Green Briar, Ark., Sam Talkington of Overland Park, Kan. and Macy Talkington of Overland Park, Kan.; great-grandchildren, Braylen, Cayson and Brynlee Lansford of Poplar Bluff and Raegan Larkowski of Poplar Bluff. Other survivors include a brother, Jerry (Rebecca) Talkington of Auburn, Ala. and several nieces and nephews.
Jimmy was preceded in death by his parents.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, Oct. 15 from noon until the time of the service, in the chapel at Moore Funeral Service, 1100 Iron Bridge Road, Poplar Bluff.
Funeral service will follow at 2 p.m. with Pastor Byron Beck officiating.
A private family interment will follow.
