The Wheatley Tutoring Program will hold a registration event from 10 a.m. - 2 p.m. Saturday at the Historic Wheatley School, 921 Garfield Street in Poplar Bluff. The Wheatley Tutoring Program will hold a registration event from 10 a.m. - 2 p.m. Saturday at the Historic Wheatley School, 921 Garfield Street in Poplar Bluff.

The tutoring program is made possible by the partnership between the Historic Wheatley School, the Poplar Bluff R-I School District and the Butler County Community Resource Council. The program not only tutors students but offers instruction in acquiring study and test-taking skills along with learning necessary life skills.

Organizers noted the importance of children being able to read is inestimable for them to be successful in school and life.

Other programs and learning activities available in Butler County’s three school districts are, spelling bees, math counts competition and reading incentives.

Regular tutoring sessions begin Oct. 17, and will be held from 5:30-6:30 p.m. Thursdays and from 10 a.m. - noon Saturdays. For more information on the this program or others please contact the Butler County Community Resource Council at 573-776-7830.
