City firefighters responded at 11:08 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 5, to a report of a vehicle fire on the parking lot at 1620 W. Maud St.
According to the report, firefighters found a 1979 Dodge pickup on the side of the road, but there were no signs smoke or fire.
The truck’s owner, Nash Hill, 1108 N. 11th St., told firefighters he was working on the truck and was trying to get it home when the engine backfired and caused a fire under the hood. The fire was out upon the arrival of the fire department, and there didn’t appear to be any damage to the truck.

City firefighters responded at 5:41 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 5, to a report of an unauthorized burn behind the Pine Street bridge.
According to the report, firefighters found an unattended fire burning at 100 S. Riverview Drive and used 10 gallons of water to put out the fire.

According to the report, firefighters found the mobile home, which was vacant and owned by Floyd Freeman, on the ground upon their arrival.

According to the report, about one-half acre, owned by Doug Pennington, burned.
