Montine Evalee Rhodes

Montine Evalee Rhodes, 87, of Poplar Bluff, passed away Sunday, Sept. 22, 2019 at Oakdale Assisted Living Center in Poplar Bluff.

Montine, the daughter of the late William B. and Iva Harmon Stephens, was born June 15, 1932 in West Plains, Mo. She was a member of Green Forest Church of Christ, and was a homemaker. During her earlier years Montine owned and operated the Western Auto Store in Poplar Bluff. She volunteered for 17 years at Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center, and previously served on the Board of Directors at ADAPT. Montine enjoyed spending time with her family and friends and going to church.

She was married on May 9, 1952 to Mitchell Gene Rhodes. He preceded her in death on Jan. 25, 2004.

Survivors include four children, Stephen “Steve” (Paula) Rhodes of Poplar Bluff, James David (Cathy) Rhodes of Houston, Texas, Mark Edward (Cheryl) Rhodes of Dallas, Texas and William Jeffery Rhodes also of Poplar Bluff; seven grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and a sister-in-law Evelyn Click of Florence, Ind.

Two brothers, David Click and James Click also preceded Montine in death.

The visitation will begin at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Cotrell Funeral Chapel with the funeral service following at noon. Mr. Adam Noles will officiate. Interment will be at the City Cemetery.
