City firefighters responded at 3 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 8, to a report of a natural gas odor at the 1929 Sanders St. residence owned by Revia Wade.
According to the report, firefighters used a multigas meter to check the residence and nothing was detected.

City firefighters responded at 2:49 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 8, to a report of a fire on Ashcroft Road between Wilson and Saxon streets.
According to the report, firefighters found an unauthorized burn involving two mattresses burning on the river side of the road. The fire reportedly was smoldering, and firefighters used about 30 gallons of water to put out the fire.

City firefighters responded at 1:44 a.m. Sunday, Sept. 8, to a carbon monoxide alarm at the 419 W. Henry St. residence occupied by John Morrow.
According to the report, firefighters were told the detector was chirping, and they used a gas meter to check the residence. No carbon monoxide was detected.
Emergency-medical-services personnel responded to check Morrow, and firefighters changed the battery in his detector.
Firefighters told Morrow he should replace the detector.

City firefighters responded at 9:43 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 7, to a carbon monoxide alarm at the Fairmont Inn, 3109 Oak Grove Road.
According to the report, firefighters found a dryer vent had fallen off, and they assisted the manager in putting the elbow back on the dryer.
The room was aired out by opening a window.
