NEELYVILLE — Thelma Lorene Lawson, 94, of Poplar Bluff, died Friday, Sept. 6, 2019 at Mark Twain Caring Center in Poplar Bluff. Visitation will be from 1-2 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 11 at Fowler & Sons Funeral Home in Neelyville. The funeral will follow visitation.

NEELYVILLE — Thelma Lorene Lawson, 94, of Poplar Bluff, died Friday, Sept. 6, 2019 at Mark Twain Caring Center in Poplar Bluff. Mrs. Lawson was born Aug. 16, 1925 in Neelyville. She was a lifetime resident of Butler County.

Mrs. Lawson attended Neelyville High School and had been a member of Walnut Grove Baptist Church since 1964. She served as secretary of the adult Sunday school class for many years and was a member of the Neelyville Historical Society. Mrs. Lawson retired from Florsheim Shoe factory after 17 years of employment.

She enjoyed going to church, listening to gospel music, sewing and Cardinals baseball games.

Mrs. Lawson was married to Rowland Trentleman in 1942. She married Jewel D. Lawson on Feb. 21, 1951. He preceded her in death in May 1993 after 42 years together.

She is survived by daughter-in-law, Patty Sue Trentleman; one grandson, Patrick Trentleman and wife, Trish; one great-grandson, Jade, all of Poplar Bluff; great-great-grandchildren, Arya, Arwyn, Elizabeth and Emma; four great-stepgrandchildren, Lesley Wallace and Dakota Wallace of Poplar Bluff, Debbie Werner and husband, Carl of St. Louis, Marty Lawson and wife, Carol of Lake Charles, La., Craig Glasgow of Downers Grove, Ill. and a special friend, Charlene Collier.

Mrs. Lawson was preceded in death by her parents, Elmer and Beatrice (Nixon) Mills and one son, James R. Trentleman.

Visitation will be from 1-2 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 11 at Fowler & Sons Funeral Home in Neelyville. The funeral will follow visitation. Burial will be in the Cochran Cemetery.
