Joseph Edward Weidig Jr., 55 of Poplar Bluff, passed away on Thursday, Sept. 5, 2019 at his home, surrounded by his loving family.
Joseph was born on November 14, 1963 in Altoona, Pa., the son of Joseph and Dorothy (Hileman) Weidig Sr. He married Kathie Losh on January 2, 2009 and she survives.
Joseph served his country honorably for many years both in the United States Navy and The Missouri National Guard, retiring in 2015 with the rank of Sergeant. Joseph also worked as a bridge foreman with Union Pacific Railroad.
Joseph was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 2659 in Dexter, he enjoyed hunting and fishing, most of all Joseph loved spending time with his family and his dogs, Jake and Jasmine.
Joseph will be lovingly missed by all his family and friends.
In addition to his wife, Joseph is survived by siblings, Scott A. (Chris) Weidig of Williamsburg, Pa., Clyde W. Weidig of Williamsburg, Pa., Julia A. (Jeff) Hileman of Williamsburg, Pa.; Stepdad, John L. Hileman of Williamsburg, Pa.; children, Kendall Gaillard of Norfolk, Va., Joseph (Andrea) Weidig III of Benton, Ill., Sawyer (Alyssa) Weidig of Jacksonville, Fla. and Brandon Clinton of Ellington, Mo.; grandchildren, Isabella Weidig, Addison Weidig, Aria Weidig, Railee Weidig, Sawyer Weidig Jr., Oakley Gaillard, Janessa Spencer, Owen Wilkins, Briar Wilkins, Mattie Clinton and Brandon Clinton Jr.
Visitation will be held in the chapel at Moore Funeral Service, 1100 Iron Bridge Road, Poplar Bluff, on Tuesday, Sept. 10 from 10 a.m. until the time of the service.
Funeral service will follow at noon with Chaplain Bill Orr and Jack Woodfin officiating.
Interment will be at the Missouri State Veterans Cemetery in Bloomfield.
