NEELYVILLE — Marvin ‘Short’ Deckard, 70, of Springfield, Mo., died Sunday, Aug. 18, 2019 at Mercy Hospital in Springfield. Visitation will be after 6 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 21 at Fowler & Sons Funeral Home in Neelyville. The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 22 at the funeral home. Burial with full military rites will be in the Naylor Memorial Cemetery.

NEELYVILLE — Marvin ‘Short’ Deckard, 70, of Springfield, Mo., died Sunday, Aug. 18, 2019 at Mercy Hospital in Springfield. He was born on March 30, 1949 in Harviell to the late Loyd and Minnie McGee Deckard.

On Nov. 30, 1968 he married Kathy Adams in Naylor. She survives.

Mr. Deckard was a 1968 graduate of Naylor High School and served in the U.S. Army from 1969-1989. He served during the Vietnam War.

He enjoyed fishing, collecting Zebco rods and reels, collecting fishing antiques, Cardinals baseball and spending time with his grandchildren.

Mr. Deckard is survived by his wife; sons, Marty Ray Deckard and wife, Dana of Stephens, Texas, Michael Robert Deckard and wife, Angie of Springfield, Mo. and Monty Richard Deckard and partner, Steven of Springfield, Mo.; brothers, Tom Deckard and wife, Aurelia of Festus, Mo., Roy ‘Kettle’ Deckard and wife, Kathy of Conway, Ark.; brother-in-law, Doyle Wallace of Farmington, Mo.; grandchildren, Mitchell, Morgan, Mark, Gabrielle and Sydney.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Brenda Wallace.

Visitation will be after 6 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 21 at Fowler & Sons Funeral Home in Neelyville. The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 22 at the funeral home. Burial with full military rites will be in the Naylor Memorial Cemetery.
