City firefighters responded at 2:41 p.m. Wednesday, July 10, to a report of an unattended fire beside the residence at 415 N. Fifth St.
According to the report, firefighters found an unauthorized burn and used five gallons of water to put it out.

City firefighters responded at 10:02 a.m. Wednesday, July 10, to a report of a smoke odor in Southern Bank, 531 Vine St.
According to the report, firefighters found the odor on the bank’s main floor and used the department’s thermal-imaging camera to check all lights and electronic outlets on the main floor and in the basement. Nothing was found.
Firefighters told bank employees to have an electrician and heating/air conditioning/ventilation technician check to make sure there were no problems with the air conditioning.
