Sterling Hill Sr.

FISK, Mo. — Sterling Hill Sr., age 88, of Poplar Bluff, Mo., died Tuesday, March 19, 2019 at Mercy Hospital in St. Louis, Mo. Mr. Hill was born July 16, 1930 in Broseley, Mo., son of the late Herbert Samuel and Lillie Belle Hill. He attended Lone Hill Missionary Baptist Church.

On August 2, 1950 he married Pauline Stinnett. She preceded him in death on October 30, 2011.

He is survived by two sons, Sterling Hill Jr. and wife, Cheryl and John A. Hill and wife Judy; one daughter, Phyliss Spence and husband, James, all of Poplar Bluff; one sister, Fayeon Pounds, of Piggott, Ark.; five grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. He was also preceded in death by one grandson, Jeffery Hill.

Visitation will begin at 6 p.m. on Friday, March 22 at White-Sanders Funeral Home in Fisk. Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. on Saturday, March 23 in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Sloan Parker officiating. Burial will be in Kinsey Cemetery at Harviell, Mo.
