County firefighters responded at 11:20 a.m. Monday, March 4, to a vehicle fire at 225 Physicians Park Drive.

According to the report, a 1997 Toyota pickup, owned by Earl Ladyman, was destroyed.

The fire also damaged a 2017 Ford Edge and a Nissan Rogue.

City firefighters responded at 10:28 a.m. Monday, March 4, to an alarm at Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center, 3100 Oak Grove Road. It was investigation only.

City firefighters responded at 2:32 p.m. Monday, March 4, to a vehicle fire in the parking lot of the Black River Coliseum on Fifth Street.

According to the report, the fire in the 2000 Dodge pickup, occupied by Dusty Gage and owned by Gina Martin, 9252 Highway PP, was out upon the arrival of the fire department.

Gage reportedly had used a fire extinguisher to put out the fire.

It appeared some wiring under the dash had shorted out and filled the truck’s interior with smoke.

The truck was to be driven to mechanic and its battery disconnected for repairs to be made.

City firefighters responded at 6:26 p.m. Monday, March 4, to an alarm at the 262 Woodland Hills residence occupied by Greg Clark and owned by Clay Lawson. It was investigation only.

City firefighters responded at 5:27 p.m. Monday, March 4, to a vehicle fire at 240 S. Westwood Blvd.

According to the report, firefighters found a 2001 Ford pickup, occupied by Sharron Millmaker of Mill Spring and owned by William Beckenbach, had fire in its engine compartment.

Firefighters used 20 gallons of water to put out the fire.

City firefighters responded at 4:53 p.m. Monday, March 4, to a reported fire at the 401 S. Broadway apartment occupied by Randy Stamps and owned by Joe Joiner.

According to the report, firefighters found the building’s occupants had evacuated.

A smoke detector reportedly was sounding in a hallway and smoke was found to be coming from the first floor.

Firefighters reportedly found Stamps trying to put out the fire and told Stamps to get out of the apartment.

The fire apparently started in a trash can in the living room.

Stamps reported he had emptied an ash tray in the trash can.

Firefighters found a lot of smoke in Stamps’ apartment and in the hallway, but the fire appeared to be out.

Firefighters used a positive-pressure-ventilation fan to remove smoke from the building. Firefighters reportedly had to force open a back door for ventilation.

Stamps, who was treated at the scene for smoke inhalation, reported he was asleep on the couch in the living room when he awoke to find the fire. He reported using water from the kitchen sink to put out the fire.

Firefighters responded back to Stamps’ apartment at 8:12 p.m. after a fire was reported.

Firefighters arrived to find smoke in the hallway and Stamps’ apartment.

Neighbors reported hearing a smoke detector going off and went to Stamps’ apartment. When contact was made with Stamps, he shut the door and reported there was no fire.

The neighbors reported smoke was coming from his apartment. They reportedly got water from their apartment and entered Stamps’ apartment to put out the fire.

Firefighters again used a PPV fan to remove smoke from the building.

Police officers reportedly detained Stamps, who allegedly intentionally set the fire, and took him to the police department.

The State Fire Marshal’s Office was contacted to investigate the cause of the fire.
