A Piggott, Arkansas woman has been arrested on drunk driving charges following a fatal accident Friday night on Highway 53, five miles south of Poplar Bluff.
Roger S. Trammell, 28, also of Piggott, was pronounced dead at 1:13 a.m. Saturday at the scene by Butler County Coroner Andy Moore, according to the Missouri State Highway Patrol.
Skye L. Pruitt, 27, was arrested on suspicion of driving while intoxicated in connection with the death of another person; careless and imprudent driving resulting in a crash and no seat belt. She was released at the scene for medical treatment and taken by ambulance to Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center with serious injuries.
According to the report, Trammell was a passenger in a 1990 Chevrolet driven southbound by Pruitt shortly before midnight Friday.
Troopers say the crash occurred as the vehicle traveled off the left side of the roadway and overturned.
Trammel is the eighth fatality this year in Troop E.
