Two people face charges after a second weekend incident involving firearms resulted in injury.

Officers say the second gunshot wound is not related to a Saturday incident in which two suspects are still being sought.

Kyle Demetri Bounds, 21, of Dexter, faces one count of discharging a firearm in city limits after officers were called Monday to the trauma room of Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center. Terry Lamont Bulliner, 20, of the 500 block of Karen, faces charges of minor in possession of liquor and first degree trespass.

According to the report, Bounds was being treated for a gunshot wound to his upper left arm.

“Bounds told me he was drinking beer,” in the 2300 block of Earl Street, said Patrolman Shane Bates in a report. “Bounds said he decided to go in his backyard and shoot beer cans with a rifle. Bounds said while doing so, he shot himself in the arm. Bounds was unable to explain how it happened.”

While interviewing Bounds, Bates said he was called to the emergency room waiting area, where another individual was causing a disturbance.

Bulliner was upset because hospital staff would not let him see Bounds, Bates continued. He was using profanity and did not leave after being told to do so by hospital staff and officers, Bates said.

“Bulliner seemed intoxicated and I could smell the odor of alcohol coming from his breath,” the officer reported.

Bulliner was placed under arrest and taken to the station where he told officers he had drunk approximately 30 beers.

Bulliner was booked and released with a summons. A summons will be mailed to Bounds.
