City firefighters responded at 3:32 p.m. Sunday to a dumpster fire at Eugene Field Elementary School at 711 Nickey Street. City firefighters responded at 3:32 p.m. Sunday to a dumpster fire at Eugene Field Elementary School at 711 Nickey Street.

According to the report, upon arrival firefighters found a small fire in the school’s dumpster that is placed across the road in a parking lot. Firefighters extinguished the fire and cleared the scene.

City firefighters responded at 7:32 a.m. Sunday to a carbon monoxide alarm at 706 West Street owned by Kathy Richmond.

According to the report, firefighters arrived on scene and used the CO2 meter, but nothing was detected. The detector had a sticker on it that advised to replace by April 2019. Firefighters advised the owners to get a new detector and cleared the scene.

City firefighters responded at 1:25 p.m. Saturday by the Poplar Bluff Police Department to help search for a missing person at 120 S. Riverview Street.

According to the report, firefighters were requested to bring a boat to the Black River Sportsman Park area to aid in the search.

Firefighters used a boat to search the riverbank north of the ramp until the person was located.

City firefighters responded at 3:33 p.m. Saturday to an alarm system activation at 902 N. Main Street.

According to the report, while en route dispatch advised they made contact with the owner, Justin Hubbard, who stated it was an accidental alarm.

Firefighters arrived on scene and made contact with Hubbard who stated he set off the alarm by accident with a vapor e-cigarette.

City firefighters responded at 11 a.m. Saturday to assist EMS at 2773 Barron Road.

According to the report, the meals on wheels worker advised Station 2 that occupant Nina Stewart was down on the floor. She stated her hip was hurting.

Contact was made with dispatch to call Butler County EMS to respond. EMS arrived and Stewart was transported to Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center.
