Local school board contests for the April 2 election have been set and districts within Butler County will see contested races with the exception of Poplar Bluff.
The two incumbents for the Poplar Bluff R-1 Board of Education filed for re-election and will not face any challengers.
Cynthia Brown has served on the board since 2004 while Roger Hanner took his seat in 2016.
The two will retain their seats for another three years.
A contest for two seats on the Neelyville R-IV School Board has developed following the filing of a third candidate for the election.
Jill McGruder has entered the race challenging incumbents Donna Akers and Jack Stull.
Akers has served on the board since 2010 and Stull took his seat in 2013.
A race has also developed for two seats on the Twin Rivers R-X Board of Education.
Incumbents Jeff Arnold and Dennis Whitlow filed for re-election. Arnold has been on the board since 2016, while Whitlow has served since 2012.
Bruce Goodrich and Gordon “Lee” Wright have also filed to enter the election.
A contest for two seats on the Dexter R-XI School Board in Stoddard County has developed with three candidates filing.
Ron Glaus has entered the race challenging incumbents Nancy Mayer and Herman Morse.
Mayer has served on the board since 2010 and Morse took his seat in 2004.
Filing opened Dec. 11 and remained open until 5 p.m. Tuesday.
