Mildred Lois Warbington, 96, of Harviell, Mo., formerly of Poplar Bluff, entered her Heavenly home Friday, Oct. 19, 2018 at Westwood Hills Health and Rehab Center in Poplar Bluff.
Mildred, the daughter of the late Dee R. and Miriam Edna Carter Cochran, was born Sept. 25, 1922 in Harviell. She was of the Protestant faith and was a homemaker. An intelligent and independent lady, she was able to live by herself until the age of 95. Mildred loved reading everything she could get her hands on and would sing old gospel hymns to keep her mind sharp. She was the family historian and told many stories about the Cochran and Carter families. Mildred was a Charter member of the World War II Museum in New Orleans, La. She along with her husband Joel followed his job with a pipeline company as the pipeline was being built to the north.
Mildred was married to Durwood Hastings on Jan. 27, 1939. To this marriage a daughter, Cheche Ann Hastings was born. A casualty of World War II, Durwood was lost at sea April 20, 1944. On May 10, 1948 she married Joel S. Warbington. He preceded her in death on Jan. 4, 1968.
Survivors include two brothers, Richard M. (Wilma) Cochran of Bowling Green, Ky. and Gary B. (Barbara) Cochran of Arnold; five grandchildren; numerous great- grandchildren; a loving caretaker Alfreda Coan; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Her daughter, Cheche Ann Hastings, three sisters, Wanda Mae Johnson, Iris Cleo Miller and Mary Alice Grebenick and a brother Bill Dee Cochran also preceded Mildred in death.
Visitation will begin at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Cotrell Funeral Chapel with the funeral service following at 3 p.m. Her brother Gary B. Cochran will officiate. Burial will be at Kinsey Cemetery in Harviell.
