Jaden Deaton and Dylan Cisne earned first and second place for Poplar Bluff boys cross country Thursday in the Barry-Cody Bootheel Classic. Deaton finished first by a 47-second margin with a time of 19 minutes, 15 seconds. Jacob Thurman earned fifth to round out three top-five finishes for the Mules. Jaden Deaton and Dylan Cisne earned first and second place for Poplar Bluff boys cross country Thursday in the Barry-Cody Bootheel Classic.

Deaton finished first by a 47-second margin with a time of 19 minutes, 15 seconds. Jacob Thurman earned fifth to round out three top-five finishes for the Mules. Poplar Bluff finished first in the team standings with 21 points.

Seth Ingle, Bryce Crites. Tristan Gillihan and Brent Worley occupied spots 7-10, securing seven top-10 finishes on the way to the top of the team standings.

Ross Dare placed 13th with a time of 25:25, and Adam Griggs topped off the top-20 finishes for the Mules at 30:58.

Ellington's Carson McNail placed third overall with a time of 20:48. Logan Lloyd's 24:02 put him just outside the top-10 in 11th. Carson Anderson, Colton Hart, Justin Dane and Josh Buford occupied spots 16-19 for Ellington. Hayden Williams rounded out the team's performances with a time of 37:07 for the 23rd spot.

Jacob Channing led Clearwater with a time of 21:39, good for fourth place. Trenton Miller and Ty Silvestger placed 14th and 15th for the Tigers with respective times of 25:38 and 27:03. Eric Plummer placed 22nd for Clearwater, clocking 34:48.

Greenville had one top-10 finish, while senior Tye Huff placed 12th at 25:04. Andrew Hill and Jay Bangert finished 24th and 25th with times of 38:18 and 41:14, respecitvely.

Thursday's Games

BASEBALL

Naylor 13, Neelyville 1, 4 inn

Naylor (11-3) flew out of the gate with seven runs in the first inning and five in the third for a run-rule victory over OFC foe Neelyville (2-16) for its third win in a row.

Chase Sarabia slugged a pair of doubles and as many RBIs to lead the Eagles offensively. Blane Libla led the team overall with three RBIs. Chance Smith started on the mound, striking out three and allowing two hits in three innings.

SOFTBALL

East Carter 14, Saxony Lutheran 1, 5 inn

East Carter knocked in four runs in the first and six in the second on the way to a run-rule win over Saxony Lutheran (3-11). Jordan Moore, Naomi and Elizabeth Crowley all led a balanced day for the offense with a pair of hits. Audrey Carter, Kennedy Thies and Paytin Gholson batted in two runs to lead the Redbirds. Jordan Moore pitched all five innings for East Carter (19-5), allowing three hits and striking out a pair while surrendering one earned run.
