IRONTON, Mo. -- Jaden Deaton notched a second-place finish in the boys 5000 meter run final Friday, and Dylan Cisne finished sixth to help Poplar Bluff boys cross country finish fifth in the Arcadia Valley Invitational. Katelyn Moeller finished fourth in the girls competition with a time of 23 minutes, 26.61 seconds in the 5000 final to lead the Poplar Bluff girls to a second-place finish.
Salah McCormack, placed 16th with a time of 25:25.21. Paige Bradley turned in a time of 25:50.05. Ava Smith wasn't far behind with a time of 25:59.30, good for 23rd. Julia Smothers was two seconds back from Smith with a time of 26:01.62. Alexis Richardson finished in 27:54.03 to place 37th.
For the boys, Jonathon Thurman placed 41st at 21:57.36. Brent Worley recorded a time of 22:29.09. Seth Ingle and Bryce Crites finished with times of 22:34.21 and 22:42.74, respectively, to round out the Poplar Bluff performances.
The East Carter boys turned in a fourth-place performance led by Wyatt Elliot, who finished seventh with a time of 19:15.49. Kyren West placed 25th at 20:34.64. Braxton Walker and Josiah Lantz placed 31st and 39th, respectively with times of 21:05.99 and 21:35. 36. Colby Duckett clocked a time of 22:13.46 for 46th. Ashten Hayman completed the event in 23:44.90, and Levi Boyer was next in the standings with a time of 24:25.48. Conner Sullivan clocked 24:31. 50 for 79th, and Sean Sullivan was 85th at 26:14.06. Rounding out the East Carter boys performances were John Littell and Brett O'dell with times 28:04.12 and 28:28.62, respectively.
On the girls side, Kadance Reynolds led East Carter with a 15th-place finish at 25:14.17 as the Redbirds finished seventh. Jaci Douglas follwed that performance up with a 27:59.78, good for 38th. Payton Golden was next up in 42nd with a time of 28:21.73, while Rylee O'dell rounded out the Redbirds' top-50 finishes with 30:04.06. Audrey Carter finished in 31:31.35.
The Greenville boys didn't finish in the top 12 of the team standings, but Jagger Robinson placed 34th with a time of 21:22.40. Andrew Hill finished in the top 50, clocking 22:16.55.
For Clearwater, Grace Peppers finished with a time of 34:40.99, good for 54th. On the boys side, the Tigers finished 12th overall. Jacob Cheney led the way with a time of 21:48.22.
Trenton Miller placed 72nd at 24:06.84, while Ty Silvester clocked 24:21.41. Brenden Edwards and Gavin Harbison rounded out the Tigers' performance with finishes of 87th and 90th, respecitvely, with times of 27:25.72 and 30:13.63.
13th Annual Forest Park Festival at Jefferson Barracks Park (St. Louis)

Dexter boys cross country finished 12th with 292 points at the Forest Park Festival in St. Louis.
Carter Dorton clocked a time of 21:06.50 for a 38th-place finish to lead the Bearcats. Gavin Cartwright was next up in 49th with a time of 21:28.70, and Andrew Ellinghouse finished with a time of 22:01.40, good for 62nd. Wyatt Parker ran a 23:06.20, and Miller McLaughlin clocked 24:23. Gabe McGhee, Gage Coleman and Mathew West rounded out Dexter's finishes with times of 24:34.70, 26:11.70 and 26:24.50, respectively.
Fall baseball
Bernie 12, Holcomb 2, 6 inn
Five runs in the second and another four in the fifth were enough to lift Bernie past Holcomb for its sixth straight win. Jaden McGowan and Josh Vaughn led the Mules with three hits apiece, while McGowan tallied an impressive five RBIs with the help of a three-run homer in the bottom of the second. John Nimmo went five innings on the mound, giving up just two hits while striking out six.
Greenville 10, Van Buren 4
Tye Huff continued his strong senior season. He sent a grand slam over the fence on his way to tallying three hits and scoring three runs as Greenville picked up a home win over Van Buren. The Bears improved to 5-2 with the victory. Keith Eudaley and Patrick Liddell added two more runs scored as other key contributors for the Bears. Warren Willard and Jack Becker split time on the mound. Willard struckout one and allowed four hits in 3 1/3 innings, and Becker struckout four in 3 2/3.
