Butler County Republicans will honor Missouri Speaker of the House Todd Richardson during an event Saturday at the Holiday Inn.

Doors will open for the annual Reagan Days celebration at 4:30 p.m., with the program starting at 5:30 p.m., said Joe Leahy, chairperson of the Butler County Republican Central Committee.

Richardson became speaker of the house in 2015, and is the first official from Butler County in over a century to be tapped for the House's top position.

"The leadership that he's shown not only for Butler County, but for Missouri as the Speaker of the House is incredible," Leahy said.

Even with the challenges faced by the state, it has had very successful legislative sessions, he continued.

"I'm sure his leadership was instrumental in having that happen," Leahy said.

Due to term limits, Richardson is currently completing his final term as the representative for the 152nd district.

The event will also include the following special guests: Richard Moore, senior counsel for the Missouri House of Representatives; Jeff Shawan, candidate for House District 153; Hardy Billington, candidate for House District 152; Doug Libla, senator for the 25th District; Jason Smith, Missouri 8th District congressman; and Peter Kinder, former three-term Missouri lieutenant governor.

Dinner will be provided by Tasteful Creations and will start at approximately 6 p.m.

"We're looking forward to an exciting night," Leahy said.

Tickets for Reagan Days are $25 and can be purchased the night of the event, from committee members or at Eddy Justice's office at 204 Ferguson St., during normal business hours or by appointment.
