Jean McCoy, 80, of Poplar Bluff, Mo., passed away Tuesday, July 24, 2018 at St. Louis University Hospital.
Melba Jean, the daughter of the late Walter C. and Edna (Jones) Hendrickson, was born April 30, 1938 in Butler County. She was of the Christian faith. Melba Jean was a retired Registered Nurse. After her retirement she became a Realtor and currently worked for Century 21 American Realty. She was a member of the Missouri Association of Realtors, National Association of Realtors and Three Rivers Board of Realtors and had earned the Award of Excellence and was a member of the Million Dollar Producer Club. Melba Jean was also a member of the AMVETS, VFW and American Legion 153 ladies auxiliaries and the RSVP Chorus. She loved spending time with her daughter, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She enjoyed traveling and singing with the RSVP Choir. Melba Jean loved meeting new people and lived her life to the fullest.
She married Everett Lee McIver he preceded her in death on March 19, 1976. She later married Ocel (Mac) McCoy. He preceded her in death on July 4, 1994.
Survivors include a daughter, Sherry Leigh (Chester) Griffin of O'Fallon, Mo.; two grandchildren, Shawn (Tosha) Mansfield of Troy, Mo., and Chad Griffin of St. Charles, Mo.; two great-grandchildren, Abigail and Hunter Mansfield; two brothers, Donald (Sue) Hendrickson and Bill (Maxine) Hendrickson, both of Poplar Bluff, and several nieces, nephews, friends and coworkers.
Two brothers, Walter Hendrickson, Jr. and Robert Hendrickson, and one sister, Myrl Hendrickson preceded her in death.
The VFW Ladies Auxiliary 6477 public memorial service will begin at 3:30 p.m. Sunday at Cotrell Funeral Chapel with visitation following until 6 p.m. The funeral service will begin at 10 a.m. Monday at the Chapel with the Rev. Calvin Buhler officiating. Burial will be at the City Cemetery.
