NEELYVILLE, Mo. -- Jerome "Jerry" McDowell Cox, 84, of Neelyville, Mo. passed away Wednesday, July 11, 2018 at the Westwood Hills Therapy Facility.
Mr. Cox was born Feb. 22, 1934 in Neelyville. He worked as a math teacher and enjoyed woodworking, gardening, genealogy of the family tree and fishing. He was a member of the Neelyville Methodist Church and the Odd Fellows.
On Feb. 28, 1953, he married Mary Ellen Simmering in Piggott, Ark. She survives.
Also surviving are his children, Mark Cox (Karen) of Mt. Home, Ark., Karen Prosser and Jerrie Bolhafner, both of Neelyville, Mo.; sisters, Joan Talbott, Kathy Banks; grandchildren, JoAnn Blagg, Rick Prosser and Elizabeth Byrd; as well as 14 great-grandchildren.
Preceding him in death is one son, John Richard (Dicky) Cox; parents, John and Mary (Wills) Cox; sister, Peggy Hancock and brother, Johnny Cox.
Services will begin Saturday July 14, 2018 at the Fowler & Sons Funeral Home with visitation at 10 a.m. The funeral will immediately follow at 11 a.m. in the chapel with Rev. Kent Wilfong officiating. Burial will be at Gum Cemetery.
