The Southeast Missouri Superintendents Association selected Dr. Tim Hager as its "Outstanding Superintendent for 2018."

By earning this honor, Hager was a finalist for the Pearce Award, which is given to the Outstanding Superintendent for the state of Missouri. The Pearce Award was awarded at the spring Missouri Association of School Administrator (MASA) Conference.

Most recently, Hager has served as the superintendent of the Iron Co. C-4 School District in Viburnum for the past three years.

The school district is considered an academic leader in the area with the top Annual Performance Report (APR) scores in both the Black River League (BRL) and Gasconade Valley Conference (GVC).

During his tenure as superintendent, both the elementary and secondary school have earned "Exemplary" status in the Professional Learning Communities program. In addition, the district has expanded pre-school programs and upgraded technology to a 1:1 student/computer ratio.

Earlier in his career, Hager served six years as the superintendent of the East Carter Co. R-2 School District.

In 2004, he was honored as the SEMO "New Superintendent of the Year."

Hager spent the first 14 years of his career in the Van Buren R-1 School District where he was a teacher, coach and principal of Van Buren Elementary School. During that time, he served a term as president of the SEMO Elementary Principals Association.

In addition to his superintendent duties, Hager has served on the State Beta Council for over 20 years. He is currently the Chairman of the Missouri Beta Council and serves as one of the eighteen member National Beta Board.

After 25 years, Hager recently retired as an adjunct public speaking instructor for Three Rivers College.

In addition, after 30 years in education, he has announced his retirement from the Iron Co. C-4 School District, which was effective June 30.

Hager holds a doctoral degree in Educational Administration and Higher Learning from Saint Louis University. His wife Lana, is a teacher at Van Buren High School. They have two daughters, Brittany, 23, who is a graduate student at the University of Missouri and Macy, 18 who is a recent graduate of Van Buren High School.
