Maggie M. Howell, 100, daughter of the late George Hugh Shelton and Cora Mae Harnbarger Shelton was born on May 7, 1918 in Piggott, Arkansas and departed this life Thursday, May 31, 2018 at Southeast Hospital in Cape Girardeau. Maggie M. Howell, 100, daughter of the late George Hugh Shelton and Cora Mae Harnbarger Shelton was born on May 7, 1918 in Piggott, Arkansas and departed this life Thursday, May 31, 2018 at Southeast Hospital in Cape Girardeau.

Mrs. Howell was a former store clerk for Stovall's Department Store in Dexter and also was a member of the First Baptist Church in Dexter.

On July 2, 1966, she was united in marriage to Wilson Howell in Dexter. Mr. Howell preceded her in death in 1983.

Survivors include; two sons, Jerry Wayne Barks and Daniel Bruce Barks, both of Dexter; two daughters, Peggy Laird of Wappapello and Rosetta (Rosie) Robertson of Dexter; 21 grandchildren, bunch of great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.

Besides her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by two sons, Ronnie Lee Barks at infancy and George Oliver Barks; three daughters, Elizabeth Ann Barks at infancy, Betty Tanner and Rita Jones; one sister, Virgie Neal; two brothers, Claude Shelton and Matthew Shelton; two half-brothers, Orville Glass and Phillip McDaniel.

Friends may call at the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Home from 5-8 p.m. Sunday, June 3, 2018. Services will be conducted oat 1 p.m. Monday, June 4, 2018 in the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Chapel with Rev. Kenneth Biggs officiating. Interment will follow at the Armstead Dowdy Cemetery.
