Katherine Marie (Dowd) Turner, 92, of Poplar Bluff, passed away on Monday, May 7, 2018 at Shady Oaks Retirement Home in Poplar Bluff. She was born on Sept. 18, 1925 to Harold and Olive (Watts) Dowd in Bessville, Mo. Katherine worked for the Social security Administration for 25 years, retiring in 1989...

Katherine Marie (Dowd) Turner, 92, of Poplar Bluff, passed away on Monday, May 7, 2018 at Shady Oaks Retirement Home in Poplar Bluff.

She was born on Sept. 18, 1925 to Harold and Olive (Watts) Dowd in Bessville, Mo. Katherine worked for the Social security Administration for 25 years, retiring in 1989.

On April 21, 1973 she married Russell Turner in Louisville, Ky.

Katherine was a long-time member of the First Presbyterian Church in Poplar Bluff where she was involved with the Woman's Circle and Bible Study Group.

She enjoyed watching the St. Louis Cardinals. Most of all, family and friends were always her priority. She loved entertaining her family and friends and frequently hosted special events at her home.

Katherine is survived by her children, Ron Turner of McAllen, Texas and Joyce (Jerry) Leonard of Austin, Texas; two sisters, Bonna Combs of Chesterfield, Mo. and Bertha (Marvin) Lassen of Moline, Ill.; three nieces, Deborah (Neil) Lassen of Moline, Ill., Shirley (Ron) Gusta of Eldridge, Idao, and Catherine (Richard Robinson) Dowd of Mebane, N.C.; two nephews, William (Cheri) Dowd of Aiken, S.C. and Ronald (Becky) Combs of Ballwin, Mo.; two daughter-in-laws, Bonnie Gordon of Weatherford, Texas and Kay Stringer of Carrollton, Texas; and her special friend, Betty Threlkeld of Poplar Bluff, Mo. A special thank you to Shady Oaks and Brook Fears, for the wonderful care she received while living there with her and all of her friends!

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; her son, Russell Turner, Jr.; brother, Marvin Dowd; sister-in-law, Norma Dowd; and brother-in-law, Carl Combs.

Visitation will be held from 5-7 p.m. Friday, May 11, 2018 at Moore Funeral Service in Poplar Bluff. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, May 12, 2018 in the Moore Funeral Service Chapel. Burial will be at the Odd Fellow's Cemetery in Fredericktown, Mo.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Lung Association, the American or Missouri Council of the Blind or your favorite charity.
