Three Rivers bounced back from an error-filled loss with a 13-6 victory Wednesday over the Harris Stowe's JV at Roger Pattillo Field.
A day after committing seven errors in an 11-5 loss at Rend Lake, the Raiders erupted for eight runs in the second inning to take command against Harris Stowe.
The Raiders (2-6) scored three runs in the first but Harris Stowe tied the game with three in the top of the second. They scored two more runs in the third to take a 13-3 lead.
Harris Stowe added two runs in the seventh and one in the ninth.
Parker Dent was the winning pitcher, striking out two in one inning of relief. Lane Crowley started but didn't qualify for the win in the nine-inning game. He permitted three runs on three hits with four strikeouts and two walks in three innings.
Overall, seven Three Rivers pitchers allowed six earned runs on five hits with 11 strikeouts and nine walks but didn't allow a home run.
Nine different Raiders had one hit each. Designated hitter William Stallings doubled for the Raiders' only extra-base hit. He went 1 for 2 with a team-high three RBIs.
Grant Miller, Reece Reading and Ty'Reik Thomas had two RBIs each for the Raiders.
Ryan Hunter, Jared Moses, Reading and Garyn Stewart scored two runs each.
On Tuesday in Ina, Ill., Three Rivers couldn't overcome the light rain, cold weather and 40 mph wind gusts in a single nine-inning game that was originally scheduled to be a doubleheader.
"It was interesting for sure. I was surprised there was only one home run it," Three Rivers coach Stacey Burkey said. "Just tough, tough conditions."
Eight of Rend Lake's 11 runs were unearned.
After a three-run homer in the second inning by Blake Wolferding, the Warriors (4-8) added five unearned runs in the third to take an 8-0 lead.
Reading drew a two-out walk in the fourth and got the Raiders on the scoreboard after William Stallings' single.
In the fifth, the first six Raiders reached base with help from four walks, but they only pushed three runs across in the inning.
Dylan Kater was thrown out on a fielder's choice, Reading got a sacrifice fly, and with the bases loaded, Hunter Gautreax struck out.
The wind blew predominantly from right to left, causing infielders to throw short to first.
The pitching staffs combined for 19 walks, eight by the Raiders, and four hit batters.
The Raiders' pitchers also had 14 strikeouts., led by Shelby Quiggins who had seven strikeouts in three innings of relief.
River Hunt took the loss. He pitched the first 2 1/3 innings for the Raiders and allowed five hits and two walks with four strikeouts.
The Raiders will travel to Trenton this weekend to face North Central Missouri in a four-game series. They will play doubleheaders at noon Friday and Saturday.
