While Jeffery Porter's mom and dad have been regulars at Three Rivers home games, on Thursday his brother was in the stands, as well.
Otto Porter Jr. watched the Raiders beat Arkansas Baptist 105-104 in double overtime, with Jeffrey Porter making the go-ahead free throws with 0.5 seconds left.
"Should have won in regulation, but they played a good game. The other team was good, I'm just glad he made his free throws," said Otto, in his fifth NBA season with the Washington Wizards.
The only Raider to start every game this season, Jeffery Porter had 23 points, 10 rebounds and five assists for his third double-double of the season.
"You want to play good for your family, especially when he doesn't get to see you a lot. You want to bring your 'A' game," Jeffery said.
Both brothers played at Scott County Central High School. Otto then played two seasons at Georgetown before being drafted third overall by the Washington Wizards in 2013. Otto helped the Braves win three straight MSHSAA Class 1 state championships and after he graduated, Porter won two.
Otto had 22 points and six rebounds as the Wizards beat the New York Knicks 118-113 on Wednesday, and with a week before his next game, there was opportunity to visit home.
It was the first time he had seen Jeffery play since Three Rivers was at Mineral Area this same time last year.
"It worked out good," said Otto, who plays the Cleveland Cavaliers on Thursday. "The past couple of years it has worked out pretty good where I could come and catch a couple of games."
