PUXICO, Mo - Alice Virginia Hoover Hodge Langston, 83 years old, died at her home Monday, Jan. 29, 2018 in Puxico, Mo.
She was born Feb. 17, 1934 in Thebes, Ill., to Jay Festus Hoover and Zelma May Tisdale, who preceded her in death.
Alice was married to Jewel Dean Hodge Dec. 30, 1950. He preceded her in death on April 4, 2001. To this union four children were born: Karen Shirrell (Ed) of Arab, Mo., Mike Hodge and Patricia Holloway (Danny), all of Puxico, and Diana Daugherty (Randy) of Raymore, Mo.
She and John Langston were married Feb. 23, 2002. John's children, Stan Doublin, Rita Fischer and Faith Heil became her beloved stepchildren.
Seven surviving grandkids, Jonathan Shirrell (Elissa) of High Ridge, Jessica Hodge of Puxico, Mikayla Hodge of Cape Girardeau; Danielle Wunderlich (Mark) of Dexter, Jeanette Haley (Lucas) of Cape Girardeau, Alicia Furman (Rob) of Lee's Summit, and Aaron Daugherty (Allyssa) of St. Louis.
Alice is preceded in death by her siblings: Jay Hoover, Albert Hoover, Gene Hoover, Claire Prass, Charlie Hoover, Lou Ann McClure and Fred Hoover. She is survived by her sister Mary Simms.
Surviving are five great-grandkids; Lucas Shirrell, Hayden Farris, Sophia and Max Wunderlich and Briella Furman.
She was the editor of the Puxico Weekly Press from 1968 - 1983. She was a member and treasurer of Life Chapel Assembly of God for many years. She was an EMT and The Ladies Auxiliary President for two years. She also served on the Puxico Election Board for many years.
Services will be visitation at Morgan-Sifford Funeral Home in Puxico, Mo. at 5 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 31. The funeral will be at 11 a.m., Thursday, Feb 1.
