Neelyville School Board President John French has withdrawn his name from the April 3 election, after serving the district for 18 years.
Filing officially closed yesterday for area school boards.
Seats on the Neelyville and Poplar Bluff boards of education, as well as Three Rivers College Board of Trustees are now uncontested.
Three people are seeking two seats in the Twin Rivers district.
French said he felt like it was his time to step back, with quality candidates running, to leave the board in a stable position.
"We have a good board and a stable board at this time," French said. "If everyone decides to leave at the same time, then that will leave no one with experience on the board."
Two seats are open on the Neelyville School Board for three-year terms.
Incumbent Gene Russom filed as well as Ronald Hover Jr.
Three-year terms are also open for two spots each on the Poplar Bluff and Twin Rivers School Boards.
Poplar Bluff Board of Education Vice President Ken Davis and member Heather Tuggle both filed on opening day.
Twin Rivers incumbents Lee Lewis, board president and member Donna Sue Ashcraft-Fincher have filed along with one challenger, Keith Parker.
Also uncontested are two spots on the Three Rivers College Board of Trustees. Incumbents Randy Grassham and Amber Richardson have filed for the six-year terms.
