FISK, Mo. - Leon Pierce, age 84, of Poplar Bluff, MO, formerly of Broseley went to be with the Lord Monday, December 25, 2017 at his residence, in Poplar Bluff, MO. Mr. Pierce was born January 4, 1933 in Broseley, son of the late Johny Vester and Kathryn Rachel Pierce. He was a member of the Elk General Baptist Church where he was ordained as a deacon on March 22, 1992. He had farmed, worked in construction and drove a motor grader for the Butler County Highway Department. He enjoyed spending time with his family, fishing, hunting and especially working with his quarter horses.
On June 3, 1952 he married Maxine Stratton at Piggott, AR, she survives. Also surviving are two daughters: Brenda McKnight and husband David and Glenda Yarbro and husband Ron both of Poplar Bluff; three sons: Dennis Pierce and wife JoAnn of Seymour, MO, Gary Pierce, and Terry Pierce and wife Diana all of Poplar Bluff, MO; ten grandchildren: Samantha, Chris, Rhonda, Randy, Letisha, Tabitha, Miranda, Chad, Kathryn, and Denise; 15 great grandchildren: Kameron, Kyler, Xzavier, Adalynn, Evan, Caden, Collin, Titus, Audrey, Dawson, Aubrey, Sierra, Michael, Hunter, and Tori Danielle; one sister: Shirley Mitchell and husband Bud of Arnold, MO, and two sisters-in-law: Marvelene Pierce of Poplar Bluff and Donna Pierce of Lapeer, MI. He was also preceded in death by two brothers: Leo "Vern" Pierce and James Dale Pierce; one sister: Laveta Snider and one grandson: Tyler McKnight.
Visitation will begin at 6 p.m. on Wednesday at White-Sanders Funeral Home in Fisk. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. on Thursday in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Bob Bradford and Rev.
