PUXICO -- Three Puxico players scored in double figures Thursday night in the Indians' 79-78 overtime loss to the Scott County Central Bravettes at Puxico.

Faith Oliver scored a game-high 25 points, Sophie Hancock had 24 and Kayt Haynes had 21.

BreAsia Jones paced Scott County Central with 24 points.

Puxico (7-3) led 16-11 after one quarter, 39-26 at halftime and 55-50 after three quarters. The Bravettes outscored the Indians 21-16 in the fourth quarter to force overtime and held an 8-7 edge in overtime.

Ahead by 13 at the half, Puxico lost its lead in the third quarter with Hancock on the bench in foul trouble. In overtime, the Indians had the ball down one with 3.4 seconds left. Puxico coach Jordan Hill said they ran a perfect play, but the shot just didn't fall as the buzzer sounded.

Van Buren 52, Naylor 28

The Lady Dawgs held Naylor (1-6) to under 10 points in every quarter as they steadily pulled away. Jalynn Morgan led Van Bruen (6-2) with 15 points after going 6 for 8 on free throws. Hannah Zimmer made a pair of 3-pointers and finished with 10 points.

Callee Pickrell led Naylor with 16 points and had half of the team's 12 field goals.

Twin Rivers 59

Katelyn South led the Royals (4-4) with 20 points and seven rebounds while Katie Baxter added 14 points and six rebounds. Brooke Blume was a basket away from a double-double with eight points and 10 rebounds.

The Royals were down by 14 going into the fourth quarter before out-scoring Saxony Lutheran 18-9 in the final eight minutes. Katie Baxter had seven of her 14 points in the fourth quarter while South had five and Blume got four.

BOYS BASKETBALL

Puxico 85, Greenville 67

Levi Woods sank six 3-pointers and led the Indians with 27 points. Dalton King added 10 points while Matt Bollinger added 12 and Andrew Geohagan chipped in 10. Tye Huff led Grenville with 20 points. Damion Burkett had 13 while Chance Rogers and Trevor Willard both got 12.

Down by four at halftime, the Indians took control of the game by outscoring Greenville 28-13 in the third quarter, and then extended their lead in the fourth.

Woods broke free in the third quarter four 3-pointers and 15 of the team's 28 points in the frame.

He had 18 points in the second half after scoring just four in a quiet first quarter.
