At the same time God pronounced the curse on Satan for having deceived Eve into eating the forbidden fruit, He gave a veiled promise of a Redeemer, saying, "I will put enmity between thee and the woman, and between thy seed and her seed; it shall bruise thy head, and thou shall bruise his heel." At the same time God pronounced the curse on Satan for having deceived Eve into eating the forbidden fruit, He gave a veiled promise of a Redeemer, saying, "I will put enmity between thee and the woman, and between thy seed and her seed; it shall bruise thy head, and thou shall bruise his heel." Genesis 3:15.

Our God in His omniscience, and because of His love and grace, will not permit His eternal purpose for man to be foiled by his sin, but has given him a second chance by offering him redemption, not mere forgiveness, but a rebirth of his spirit and restoration into His favor.

As through woman, man fell by sin, so also through woman shall man be redeemed from sin by the Son of God born of a virgin mother, for so said the angel Gabriel to Mary who gave birth to Jesus, God's only begotten Son. Luke 1:35.

However, 2000 years before His birth God called Abraham from his people and promised him his barren wife, who was already too old for normal child bearing, would bear a son through whose descendants a nation would be established, and through it all nations of the earth should be blessed. Genesis 22:18.

Space will not permit to trace the lineage of that son, Isaac, further than his son Jacob and Jacob's son Judah, but from that time on the people looked with great expectation and hope for the promised Messiah (Hebrew), or God's anointed One, which is rendered Christ in the Greek language. His personal human name was Jesus. Matthew 1:25.

Although God's chosen people (chosen for the express purpose of bringing forth His Son) for centuries looked forward to the coming of the promised redeemer, they misunderstood the purpose of His coming. They were not looking for a Savior-Redeemer from their sins-they had become very self-righteous and felt no need of such a redeemer. They despised being subject to Roman rule, and they were hoping for a Messiah to come and deliver them from that rule, then set up a kingdom and reign on the throne with renewed glory for their nation as when David and Solomon ruled over Israel. They had been told when the Messiah came He would set up a kingdom that would have no end. They did not understand that it was to be a spiritual kingdom within their hearts and lives, over which He would reign from the right hand of God in heaven.

Today His people are joyously anticipating His return to call them unto Himself to ever be with Him-what a day that will be!
