Dennis R. Berry, 80, of Poplar Bluff, died Wednesday, Nov. 1, 2017 at his residence.
He was born Dec. 30, 1936, in Poplar Bluff, to Dennis L. and Barbara (Strange) Mack. He served in the Air Force during the Korean War.
Mr. Berry was an Electronic Repairman, an over the road truck driver, but his most cherished occupation was being Chaplin for the Salvation Army in St. Louis and Alton, Ill. He served as disaster relief coordinator and was in charge of the Times Beach disaster. He was of the Baptist faith. Dennis enjoyed spending time with his family, especially with his grandchildren, fishing and reading.
Mr. Berry was married to Ruth Ann Wolters on April 8, 1958, in Poplar Bluff. She survives.
Other survivors include four children; Kaye Fowler of Poplar Bluff, Dennis A. Berry of Fairdealing, Karen (Joe) Stevens of Coweta, Okla. and Donald R. Berry of Poplar Bluff; 13 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren; four sisters; Nancy Backfish of Scott City, Sharon Haynes, Cindy Whitehead and Terry Flores all of Mississippi; and one brother; Jack L. Berry of Poplar Bluff.
One sister and four brothers preceded Dennis in death.
The visitation will begin at 11 a.m., Monday, Nov. 6 at Cotrell Funeral Chapel. The funeral service will follow at 12:30 p.m. in the chapel with Pastor Everett Gunter officiating. Burial will be at 2 p.m. in the Missouri State Veterans Cemetery in Bloomfield with full military honors.
