"I decided no matter when or where, we are taking her," Bradshaw said of the Angels pageant for her youngest daughter, Meredith, who has downs syndrome.
Providing area individuals with the same opportunity, the sixth annual Missouri Angels pageant will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 21, at the Tinnin Fine Arts Center on the Three Rivers College campus in Poplar Bluff.
An Angels pageant is for individuals of all ages with any type of special need.
According to Bradshaw, her oldest daughter, Heather Dorr, has done several local pageants and always enjoyed participating. She thought an Angels pageant would be something Meredith would enjoy as well.
"I know pageants brought my oldest daughter out of her shell," Bradshaw said.
After attending the Arkansas Angels pageant, Bradshaw spoke with some of the organizers about how to bring a pageant of its kind to the Poplar Bluff area.
The Angels pageant system is now in several states across the U.S.
During the Missouri Angels pageant this Saturday, participants will have their hair and makeup done free of charge and provided a dress if needed.
"Everyone is a winner and will receive a crown and get to experience that special moment," Bradshaw said.
This is all made possible through sponsorships as well as fundraisers throughout the year including a softball tournament and color run.
The Missouri Angels pageant will also feature an optional talent portion at the end of the pageant for those who wish to participate.
Miss Missouri Teen USA Jennifer Davis and Miss Missouri Outstanding Teen Heleena Haberer are scheduled to make appearances at the pageant as well.
The Missouri Angels pageant is free to attend and open to the public.
To be a part of next year's Missouri Angels pageant, watch Facebook for updates on when to register. Any boy or girl, newborn to 105, with a special need is welcome to participate.
"Everyone needs a chance to be seen," Bradshaw said.
