Ruth Marie Fisher, 67, daughter of the late Earl and Marie Killmer, left this life Saturday, Sept. 30, 2017 after a brief battle with the after effects of chemotherapy.
Survivors include her companion and husband of 43 years, Wiley Fisher; her son, Det. Scott Fisher and her daughter, Kathy Fisher. Ruth was also blessed with four grandchildren, the lights of her life: Kyle Fisher, Ryan Fisher, Samantha Hartzell and Stephanie Brannum.
The majority of Ruth's married life was spent as a homemaker for her family, which allowed her to pursue her love of craft work. She was proficient at needle work and enjoyed quilting, needlepoint, cross stitch, and crocheting. When not doing needle crafts, Ruth enjoyed beadwork, jewelry making, painting, and was a stained-glass artist.
Ruth was also a 35-year member of the Poplar Bluff TOPS club, making several lifelong friends with whom she shared traveling both on land and sea along with attending the annual TOPS club SRD meetings.
Ruth was a kind, gentle, and generous person to everyone whose life she touched. She leaves family and friends with hearts that are joyful from knowing her and broken by her passing.
Ruth was preceded in death by two sisters, Gloria Edler and Gail Grumke.
Services will be held in the Moore Funeral Service Chapel and at the family's request are private. In lieu of flowers, a donation to the American Cancer Society is requested.
