Sandra Kay Freedman, 77, of Castle Rock, Colo. passed away, Friday, Sept. 15, 2017 at her home in Castle Rock.

Mrs. Freedman was born July 7, 1940, in Poplar Bluff to Bernard and Mary Wheetley. She grew up as a member of First Baptist Church, Poplar Bluff, and graduated in 1958 from

They continued serving in the Houston area for 13 years, and Mrs. Freedman taught eighth grade history at Kingwood Middle School. After Houston they lived in Franklin, Tenn. for 14 years before retiring and moving back to Poplar Bluff. For the next 10 years they served as Minister to Senior Adults at the church.

Sandra always enjoyed time with her children and grandchildren, traveling, reading, cooking, attending the theater, directing theater, and, of course, serving the Senior Adults at

First Baptist Church.

Keith of Poplar Bluff and Trisha White and husband Michael of Valencia, Calif.; and nephews Davis White, Braden White, Dylan Hall, and Cameron Hall.

Her parents, Bernard Ralph and Mary Alice Short Wheetley, and a sister, Sharon G. Davis, preceded her in death.

A JOY Gathering similar to those Mrs. Freedman helped to prepare and conduct every month, will be at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 3, 2017 in the Fellowship Hall at First Baptist Church

in Poplar Bluff. Her husband, Jim, and son, Kyle, will lead the JOY Gathering.
