JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. --Malden's 400-meter relay of Vonneicia Herrion, Jaycie Jones, Onerica Reed and Tebrya Benford placed second at the MSHSAA Class 2 state championships Saturday.

The Green Wave followed Caruthersville across the finish line by 0.4 seconds at Adkins Stadium in the final.

Malden's girls tied for 10th in the team standings while the boys were 21st.

Aylexus Leshay placed third in the triple jump at 35-feet, 11-inches for all-state honors while Benford was fourth in the 100 at 12.91 and eighth in the 300 hurdles at 50.93. Reed, Herrion, Jones and Leshay also earned all-state honors in the 800 relay by placing seventh in 1:52.17.

Hunter Perkins finished sixth in the 110 hurdles at 16.03 while Joesee Perkins was sixth in the high jump by clearing 6-feet. Jamilyn Criglar was seventh in the triple jump at 42-feet.

Jones finished 13th in the long jump at 13-10.5, Makenzie Minniefie was 13th in the shot at 34-1.5 while Benford missed the finals in the 100-hurdles at 17.45 for 16th.
