Kenneth Lee Burke, 89, of Cape Girardeau, Mo. formerly of Pontiac, Mich. died Tuesday, May 16, 2017, at the Mo. State Veterans Home. He was born May 19, 1927 in Dexter, Mo. to the late John J. Burke and Clara Etta Pyle Burke. He was a member of the First Baptist Church.
He married Lera Nell Carr March 18, 1946 in Piggott, Ark. She preceded him in death.
Kenneth served in the United States Navy during WWII. He was a heavy press utility operator at Pontiac Motors, Pontiac Division of General Motors in Pontiac, Mich. He enjoyed traveling with the Senior Citizens Tours.
He is survived by two nephews, Bill Carr and Albert Carr; nine nieces, Norma Sue Woods, Joyce Mungle, Shirley Mungle, Daisy Redman, Judy Murphy, Janice Lankford, Faye Loree, Deloris Dalgren (Dan) and Kathren Shepard; several great nieces and nephews and many cousins.
A visitation will be Tuesday, May 23, 2017 at 10 a.m. at Fitch-Hillis Funeral Home Chapel. The funeral service will follow at 11 a.m. Rev. Brandon Spain of First Baptist Church will officiate. Burial will be at City Cemetery. Online condolences: fitchhillisfh@yahoo.com
