Mary and Thomas Steffan of Poplar Bluff will celebrate 50 years of marriage, Saturday, May 20. The couple was married May 20, 1967 in Sereno, Mo.
They have four children: Toni, Michele, Theresa, and Joseph; eight grandchildren, five great-grandchildren and one "heavenly" great-grandchild.
Both are retired. Thomas was 1st Sgt. in the Missouri National Guard, maintenance foreman at Noranda Aluminum, and maintenance at Sacred Heart School. Mary worked at WalMart as a customer service manager and at Sacred Heart School. They have lived in Butler County since 1975 and moved to Poplar Bluff in 1986.
They are members of Sacred Heart Church. Mary is a member of the St. Anne's Society and Thomas belongs to the Knights of Columbus.
