The Puxico Junior High kicked off MAP testing on April 3 and will continue testing until April 28.

The Missouri Assessment Program is a series of assessments in language arts, math and science in grades third through eighth, and assessments in language arts, math, science and social studies for high schoolers. These assessments are made up of several portions including multiple choice, short answers, real world scenerios, and technology enhanced activities.

According to the Missouri Department of Elementary and Secondary Education, "The MAP assessments are required in state law as part of the "Outstanding Schools Act," the state school-reform law enacted by the legislature in 1993. These "Show-Me Standards" are guides for what students should know and be able to do. There are 40 knowledge standards and 33 performance standards."

The students in grades sixth through eighth will be split up into two testing groups, group A and group B. To find out what group your child will be testing in it is encouraged to ask your child or their teacher before the day of testing.

Although MAP testing already has started there are still things you can do to help you child during the remainder of their testing schedule. These include but are not limited to making sure your child has enough rest, making sure they eat an adequate breakfast, making sure they are at school 100 percent of the time during testing, providing clothing such as jackets so your child can put them on during testing if they get chilled, and also remaining positive about testing.

Sixth grade students remaining testing will be Monday, April 24, math session 1 Group A 8:15 - 9 a.m. and Group B 9:05- 9:50 a.m.; Tuesday, April 25, math session 2 Group A 11:30 a.m. - 12:30 p.m. and Group B 12:40- 1:40 p.m.; Thursday, April 27 math session 3 Group A 8:15 - 8:45 a.m. and Group B 9 9:30 a.m..

Sixth grade students remaining testing will be Monday, April 24, math session 1 Group A 8:15 - 9 a.m. and Group B 9:05- 9:50 a.m.; Tuesday, April 25, math session 2 Group A 11:30 a.m. - 12:30 p.m. and Group B 12:40- 1:40 p.m.; Thursday, April 27 math session 3 Group A 8:15 - 8:45 a.m. and Group B 9 9:30 a.m..

Seventh grade students will be divided into three groups for the remaining Math testing Monday, April 24, Group A 10 - 10:25 a.m., Group C 10:30-10:55 p.m., Group B 11:30- 11:55 a.m.;

Tuesday, April 25, math session 2 Group C 8:15-9:35 a.m.; Group A 9:40 - 11 a.m.,

Wednesday, April 26, math session 2 Group B 1 a.m.- 2:20 p.m.;

Thursday, April 27, math session 3 Group A 9:45 - 10:15 a.m., Group C 10:20-10:50 a.m.; Group B 11:30 a.m. - noon.

Eighth grade students will be divided into three groups for the remaining Math testing Monday, April 24, Group A noon - 12:20 p.m., Group C 12:25- 12:45 p.m., Group B 12:50- 1:10 p.m.;

Tuesday, April 25, math session 2 Group C 1:10-2:35 p.m.;

Wednesday, April 26, math session 2 Group A 8:15-9:40 a.m.; Group B 11:30 a.m.- 12:50 p.m.;

Friday, April 28, math session 3 Group A 8:15 - 8:45 a.m., Group C 9- 9:30 a.m.; Group B 9:45 - 10:15 a.m.
