Divide, conquer

While our president does not have one of the greatest records in current time, much of his agenda is ill-taken by the people. He will probably be remembered best, like many great leaders of the past, that the one thing he was good at, and remember this, he has become very excellent at the maneuver called, "Divide and Conquer." Remember that come voting time because the division of our nation through his class warfare tactics will be remembered for generations due to the inordinate amount of debt he's run up on our nation. Let us never allow our children and grandchildren to forget who did this to our fine nation.

Thank you for the gesture

This is a thank you to an unknown family. A wonderful gift was given to us Friday, March 9 at Colton's. My husband and I are in our 80s. We had gone to Colton's for lunch. As we were going in to be seated we passed a booth with a young couple and their young son and daughter. My husband stopped to say something to the children and then we went on. After this family had finished, they stopped at our table and introduced their cute and very well-mannered children, ages five and three, then they left. Later when we asked for our check, we were told it was a already paid for. Paid by the young unknown gracious couple. We do not know their name to thank them, so we are using Speak Out to sincerely thank them for such a wonderful gesture on their part. They gave a gift of friendliness and lunch to an elderly couple unknown to them. So whoever, wherever, you are may God bless you and your daughter and son. Thank you.

Start tickets with city employees

I read in the paper that the Poplar Bluff Police Dept. was going to start giving out a lot more tickets to the people who do not have their seat belts on.

I think the police should start with the city of Poplar Bluff employees.

You can drive through town any day of the week and look at the city employees in city vehicles and none of them have their seat belts on. This includes the Municipal Utilities and city cable, the water department, the street department. I will say that the policemen wear their belts. They are setting a good example.
