The Lion’s Club decided to sponsor Poplar Bluff High School’s upcoming All-State Choir performance, after being impressed during a Christmas caroling at the organization’s weekly luncheon.

The Poplar Bluff Animal Control shelter is located on Butler Street and is open for adoptions from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday, Wednesday and Friday and 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesday and Thursday. For more information call 573-686-8635.

Butler County Sheriff Brad Lee Hillis, 33, of the 300 block of County Road 527, reported at 2:30 p.m. Monday, Dec. 30, that a neighbor's dog attacked his turkeys. According to the report, the turkeys were in their pens when the dog, owned by Jessica Constantino, 31, attacked them, pulling out feathers and causing bleeding.
