Sweat bullets over city cable I know you probably won't print this, Speak Out, but being one citizen who is, how shall I say, paying for the expansion of the cable service here in Poplar Bluff. The new process of going to an all-digital format in our community is more like an act of basically boosting the bottom line at the city cable service because from the explanation they are giving on Channel 2 if those on expanded basic cable don't come in and pay for the digital service to receive Channels 23-79, even though they may have a digital ready television, they will NOT receive the all-digital service from the television which they are receiving right now, which to me is making those citizens which are receiving those very channels right now pay extra for the television that they are receiving at this very moment. ...

One injured in biodiesel plant explosion near Hayti

SEMO News Service PEMISCOT COUNTY, Mo. -- A 56-year-old Steele, Mo., man was injured Friday following an explosion at the Natural Biodiesel Plant. According to the Pemiscot County Sheriff's Office, at about 8:15 a.m., the Hayti, Mo., Fire Department was dispatched to the Natural Biodiesel Plant on Highway J in rural Pemiscot County after a 911 caller said that there had been an explosion and one person was injured. ...
